Meet Maddy; she is 8 years old. Her mother passed away from cancer 2 years ago, leaving Maddy and her dad, Peter, to struggle with grief, especially during the holiday season. Peter had to work extra hours to make ends meet. He enrolled Maddy in camp at the Y with the help of financial assistance made possible by people like you.
During her time at camp, Maddy found understanding, friendship, and positive role models. As she shares, “I don’t feel alone anymore, and we have so much fun at the Y. It’s not so scary to try new things when we do it together.” The Y also became a place of healing for Peter, offering him a supportive community where he could focus on his health.
